KABUL) were allegedly involved in fraud during the 2014 elections, the Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) acknowledged on Sunday.

A fact-finding committee by IECC presented a report after three months of investigation into frauds that had taken place during the presidential as well as provincial councils’ elections last year.

IECC spokesperson Nadir Mohseni told Journalists in Kabul that the fact-finding committee had evaluated all anomalies and frauds taken place during the elections and decisions had been taken against those involved in fraud.

He added the temporary employees have been blacklisted and would not be able to take part in the next elections.

The 10,000 temporary employees’ names, he said, would be put up on the website and could come to the commission and defend themselves otherwise their names would be blacklisted permanently.

The 20 permanent officials across Afghanistan would also be sacked from their positions, Mohsini continued. They only had today and tomorrow to defend themselves against the fraud allegations.

The IECC spokesman insisted it would welcome reforms in line with the constitution and called it mandatory.
