JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Recent reports of harassment of Afghan refugees and decrease in transfer of NATO supplies have diminished local transport activities on the Peshawar-Torkam-Jalalabad Highway.
Drivers on both sides of Torkham acknowledged 90 percent decline in passengers traveling that left negative impact on the transport business.
Pakistani authorities reported harassing Afghan refugees after the tragic incident in Peshawar where militants killed 132 students at the Army Public School, which sent shock waves globally.
Transport Director Dr. Mohammad Ayub Sharafat said earlier over 1,200 vehicles traveled to Torkam Port but currently that number dropped to 200 vehicles only.
After the Peshawar attack, he said Pakistan officials had started harassment of Afghan refugees and common Afghans were not willing to travel to Pakistan.
