KABUL in the country.

Speaking at a gathering arranged to mark International Women’s Day in Kabul, the president said every ideology at any time and place had specific views regarding women. The women’s values, he said, was a necessity for the development of a society.

Educating a boy would change one generation while educating a girl would change the fate of five generations, he said, promising more investment to ensure girls education.

“We are firm in our promises with regard to strengthen the achievements that have been made in this regard,” Ghani added. “It is necessary that we look at women’s role in the society from within our culture and civilization. Our constitution is completely in line with the Islamic values,” he continued.

He informed that his government was committed to provide education for women and with the support of Turkey an all-girls’ university would be established soon.

He stressed on women’s role in managerial positions and sought special attention to their health and right to property. It was not only Women Affairs Ministry’s responsibility to secure women’s rights, but it is every department’s responsibility, he added.

“Violence and discrimination against women has no place in government departments, universities and schools,” he remarked.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah, in a message read out in the gathering, said rise in violence against women showed that women still faced with challenges in the society.
