MAIDAN SHAHR (Pajhwok): A car suicide attack wounded two Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers in Sayedabad district of central Maidan Wardak province on Tuesday, the governor’s spokesman said.
Attaullah Khogyani told Pajhwok Afghan News that the incident took place in Sisi area of the district this morning at around 8.am. Soon after the incident, security forces cordoned off the area, he added.
The bomber wanted to ram his explosive-laden car to ANA military base but he was fired upon by the forces before he could reach to his intended target, he added. He said one ANA soldier had been wounded while the bomber died when his explosive went-off.
However, Maj. Gen. Zahir Azami, spokesman of the Ministry of Defense (MoD), said two ANA soldiers were wounded in the incident but both were in stable condition.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed heavy casualties inflicted on security forces in the attack.
