JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Maulvi Attaullah Ludin, the governor of eastern Nangarhar province, on Wednesday inaugurated construction work on a  12-kilometre road in Kama district, an official said.

Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News members of the parliament, tribal elders and senior provincial officials attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

The ministry of public works would supervise the project that would be completed within a year at a cost of 150 million afghanis provided by the World Bank (WB), Ludin told the gathering. He pledged another 12 kilometres road would be constructed in the locality in near future.

Haji Syed Rahman, an elder and resident of the locality, said they were facing numerous problems because the road was in dilapidated condition. He said most of the people were associated with agriculture and they were unable to transport their vegetables to Jalalabad.
