HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): At least 18 passengers surrounded by floods in the Karokh district of western Herat province have been rescued, an official said on Wednesday.
Maj. Gen. Abdul Majid Rozi, Herat police chief, said the passengers from Ghor province were on their way to Herat when their vehicle was trapped by floods in Rod Pashtan locality.
They were all taken to Herat on Tuesday, Rozi said. Some weeks back, around 100 people were rescued by army soldiers from severe avalanches in the Band-i-Sabzak area of Badghis province.
