FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): A dozen Afghan Local Police (ALP) members were wounded in a bomb blast in the Pushtrod district of western Farah province on Tuesday, an official said.
The bomb — planted by Taliban militants near an ALP post — went off when the security personnel returned from lunch, the district chief told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Ghausuddin said there was no ALP member left to secure the post. The Taliban used the opportunity and planted a bomb there, he added.
At least 12 ALP members were wounded when the remotely-controlled device was detonated.
Farah Civil Hospital Director Dr. Abdul Hakim Rassouli confirmed receiving nine ALP officials in wounded condition. He added the policemen’s injuries were not life-threatening.
