KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): A week-long inter-district volleyball tournament has got under way in the capital of southeastern Khost province, an official said on Thursday.
Khost Olympic Committee Director Aziz Malang told Pajhwok Afghan News 25 teams from the districts and Khost City were taking part in the event. Outstanding players would be considered for provincial and national teams, he informed.
Mubariz Mohammad Zadran, the provincial government spokesman, hoped the tournament would help bring closer the youth of the province to share their experiences and learn from each other.
He called sports.
Maroof Turab, a volleyballer, was happy being part of the contest, marking the advent of spring. He believed conducting volleyball tournaments would help promote the game in the province.
