Afghans deserve a future filled with hope: Haysom

KABUL (Pajhwok): The UN’s top diplomat in the country on Friday greeted the Afghans on Nawroz, the Persian new year.

“On the eve of this cherished occasion – the day of the spring equinox – we express hope that the year brings prosperity and harmony to the Afghan people,” he said.

United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) head Nicholas Haysom said after years of conflict, the Afghans deserved a future filled with optimism and hope.

UNAMA, he said in a brief statement, would remain steadfast in its commitment to supporting the Afghan people.

Nawroz is a time for renewal and celebration, promoting values of peace and solidarity between generations and communities.
