Speaking at the burial ceremony, a religious scholar said Farkhanda had been killed mercilessly and nobody had the right to issue death orders. He added the killers and their supporters were criminals and would face Almighty Allah’s wrath.

Earlier, President Ashraf Ghani formed a commission to investigate the lynching of the woman in light of Islamic teachings and human rights principles and directed it submit him a report.

Mualvi Mohiuddin Baloch heads the panel, which includes Mualvi Mohammad Umar Farooqi, Syed Mohammad Hussain Mohaqiqzada, Fauzia Kofi, Shinkai Karokhel, Shahla Farid, Mehbooba Siraj, Najibullah Azizi, Shamsullah Ahmedzai, Khpalwak Safi and Mujibur Rahman Khilwatgar.
