MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Taliban have killed five Andkhoi district residents, including three local elders, in northern Faryab province, an official said on Sunday.
Sultan Sanjar, the district’s administrative head, told Pajhwok Afghan News the insurgents abducted the residents before killing them.
Bodies of former jihadi commanders Amir Aslam and Amir Faizullah and Dr. Sayed Amin were found by police in Dasht-i-Laili locality, he added.
Based on reports, they spent the New Year eve at Haji Mohammad Qul’s house before being abducted the next morning on their way home.
Bashir Ahmad, a parliamentarian from Faryab province, alleged that Qari Ahmad — a Taliban commander — was behind the murders.
Nobody has claimed responsibility for the incident so far. Andkhoi residents urged the government to thoroughly investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.
