MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): University students and civil societyinfo-icon activists on Sunday staged a protest in Mazar-i-Sharif, the provincial capital of northern Balkh province demanding drastic changes in policy of the Hajjinfo-icon and Religious Affairs Ministry.

The protestors condemned the killing of Farkhanda and asked the ministry to crack down on extremism and the use of religion for violence. The rally started from the RTA building and ended at the provincial council office.

In a six-point resolution, the demonstrators asked the Hajj and Religious Affairs Ministry to adopt a clear strategy for controlling extremism and terrorism. It also stressed the execution of Farkhanda’s killers and release of 31 abducted passengers.

Separately, the Modern Thinking Society (MTS) offered fateha at its office in Kabulinfo-icon for the soul of the woman, who was killed by a mob for allegedly burning the Quraninfo-icon
