KABUL (Pajhwok): Former president Hamid Karzai has granted $50,000 in the form of scholarships to Afghan students.

Last week, Karzai visited Australia to address the Young Presidents Organisation, said a statement from his office.

Karzai spoke about Afghanistan’s achievements over the past 13 years and expressed optimism about the future of Afghanistan.

The Young Presidents Organisation donated $50,000 to the former president, who granted the amount to Afghan students in shape of scholarships.

Karzai also attended a gathering of Afghan expatriates in Melbourne, where he talked on several issues. He returned to Kabul on Sunday.
