Governor’s office financial chief shot dead in Wardak

MAIDAN SHAR (Pajhwok): Financial and administrative chief of the governor’s office of central Maidan Wardak shot dead on Saturday morning by unknown gunmen, an official said.

Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesperson, told Pajhwok Afghan News Pir Mohammad Kochi was shot dead outside his home at 8:00 am when he was on his way to his office.

The gunmen fled the scene and police have started investigations, he added. Slain Pir Mohammd Kochi had been working in the province for 34 years. Kochi had also worked as deputy governor in the province.

In another incident, officials in central Logar province said Talibaninfo-icon forced their way into a house of a local policeman in Baraki Barak district, killing his wife and wounding two of his children.

Abdul Hakim Ishaqzai, provincial police chief, said the incident took place on Friday night. The local police officer, Samad, was not at home during the attack, he added.
