School blown up in Sherin Tagab district: officials

MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen blown up a school in the Sherin Tagab district of northern Faryab province, officials said Tuesday.

Condemning the act in strongest terms, Educationinfo-icon Director Ahmadullah Arab noted that such tactics won’t help stop the process or students to get education.

On Sunday night, he said armed men in Sahraee-Qala locality of the district placed explosive under the facility and blew the school up.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News more than 1,000 students were enrolled at the school and the classes continued after the blast.

Brig. Gen. Abdul Nabi Alham, provincial police chief, said insurgents were behind the sabotage act. No one is hurt in the incident, he added.

He added Talibaninfo-icon also planted a roadside bomb on the way leading to a mosqueinfo-icon in Sherin-Tagan district, which exploded early morning but caused no casualties.
