KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Mohammad Nabi, captain of Afghan National Cricket team on Monday formally resigned as captain, saying his captaincywas affecting his performance, a statement from the Afghanistaninfo-icon Cricket Board (ACB) said. 

Nabi announceed his resignation at a press conference arranged by the ACB.Also, Nabi himself wrote to the ACB that given the recent performance of the team and particularly his out of form status, “I would like to request you to accept my resignation as a captain and allow me to continue to play as a team player.”

He said that he would sincerely provide and share his experience with the new captain. He served in Afghanistan's national cricket team as a captain for over two years.

In his statement, he said that he tried his best to bring victories to the nation and he was proud that the national team played in the 2015 cricket Worldinfo-icon Cup under his captaincy.

“I would like to thank ACB, my colleagues and fans inside and outside Afghanistan who supported me all the time,” he added.
