KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Resolute Support Mission commander Gen. John Francis Campbell on Wednesday said Afghan forces needed a strong leadership to better use their power and made them operate in more effective way.

He was talking to Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah during a meeting at the latter’s office, a statement from the CEO office said.

Gen. Campbell said the Afghan forces had attained the capability to subdue insurgent activities in every part of the country, but they needed effective command to spearhead their operations.

He said Afghan security forces had developed better coordination to thwart pre-planned attacks from insurgents.

Abdullah said security forces would launch large-scale operations against insurgents to destroy their safe havens. “It is the responsibility of our forces to defend the country at any cost,” the statement quoted CEO as saying.
