Govt warns rebels against bloodshed

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Afghan government on Monday warned insurgents against killing innocent people, including womeninfo-icon and children, and said the Afghan security forces were capable of defending the motherland from all sorts of threats.

A statement from the president spokesman’s office said the enemy of Afghanistaninfo-icon with support from outsiders continued to launch attacks resulting in the killing of innocent people, including women and children.

It maintained the goal of militants was to create gap between the people of Afghanistan and the international community and subsequently isolate the Afghan nation from the rest of the worldinfo-icon through violence and bloodshed.

It said the government pursued the peace process as a national’s desire and because the establishment of durable peace and stability was the government’s top priority and the enemy should not consider it as the government’s weakness.

The statement said security forces were fully prepared to defend the county and foil nefarious designs of insurgents.

Militants by resorting to incidents of violence like bomb blasts wanted to spread terror among common people, but they should know the people of Afghanistan were courageous, bold and would never bow down to the agenda of outsiders.

The statement asked ulemainfo-icon and civil societyinfo-icon activists to support the Afghan armed forces and spread the message of patriotism, territorial integrity and the vital task of the defence of the country in accordance with teachings of Islam.

It encouraged and assured the masses that Afghan forces had the capability of defending their motherland from the enemy and asked the people to play their role in the country’s defence.
