NATO FMs to discuss Afghanistan security

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): A two-day NATOinfo-icon foreign ministers’ meeting will kick-off from Wednesday in Turkey to discuss recent security situation of Afghanistaninfo-icon, a NATO official said Saturday.

Ismail Aramaz, NATO Senoir civilian representative for Afghanistan, told Pajhwok Afghan News the meeting of the alliance’s foreign ministers,  and 14 other states supporting the Resolute Support (RS) will attend the meeting.

Besides, Afghan Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani, representatives of UNAMA, foreign representatives of European Union, and foreign minister of Korea and Japan are also among the attendees.

The first day of the meeting is specifically reserved for Afghanistan in which Afghan foreign minister would brief the participants about recent situation of the country, Aramaz added.

Latest situation regarding role of national unity government and RS would also be discussed during the course of meeting. The peace process and Pakistaninfo-icon support were also included in the meeting’s agenda, another official wishing anonymity said.

The meeting has its significance since the Afghan security forces successfully accomplished military operations in several areas in recent past, the NATO representative for Afghanistan noted.
