ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Hundreds of local elders in eastern Kunar province on Monday urged the government to pay more attention on the development of the province.

The gathering was held in Asadabad, the provincial capital, in which hundreds of elders, religious scholars, Jihadi leaders, civil societyinfo-icon activists and provincial council members participated.

Haji Yar Mullahinfo-icon Khan, a local elder, said they wanted their rights from the central government. “We have professionals and academic cadres in each field. We want the government to give us active role in capital and other provinces.”

Haji Mohammad Rozi, another elder, said in critical conditions they supported both the presidential candidates during the elections for positive change in the country. Now that both candidates had become president and CEO, they should pay special attention to the province.

Provincial council head Mohammad Peelot stressed the people of this province had great sacrifices for the country and the province should be developed at every aspect.

Maulviinfo-icon Burhanuddin, a religious scholar, said the unity government did not pay any attention to the people of Kunar.
