Governor urges media to project real picture of war

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Media is needed to project real picture of the ongoing war in Afghanistaninfo-icon which is more a psychological fight than a military, the governor said on Monday.

The newly appointed Governor Mirza Khan Rahimi expressed this in a meeting with journalists and writers at the governor house.

Rahimi asked media-persons to create awareness among lay men regarding the real issues of the warfare which would be conducive and effective. The governor assured to address problems being faced by journalists and would share information on time.

Media could play effective role to focus on sharing government plans and activities with local and international community which could improve the quality of work and highlight shortcomings of projects, he added.

He believed free speech would lead to a prosperous Afghanistan and point out government’s flaws.

“I would like to focus on security, peace and reconstructioninfo-icon of the area,” he pledged, adding that launching more development projects would leave far-reaching positive impact on peoples’ economy.

Several individuals were inducted in the government on different posts before his appointment which would be an issue to be dealt with, he adde3d.

The people, he said had been going through miserable condition due to ongoing fight in northern districts of Helmand which could be controlled soon.

The governor reassured his all out support to media at a time when journalists were striving to get access to information.
