Abdullah asks Taliban to make clear peace talks stance

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Asking the Talibaninfo-icon to make their stance clear on the peace parlays, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah on Wednesday said fighting and peace talks could not go together.

In his message on the eve of the holy month of Ramadaninfo-icon that begins in Afghanistaninfo-icon on Thursday, Abdullah said: “On the arrival of this holy month, I congratulate the Afghan nation and the entire Muslim worldinfo-icon. I pray for the war-weary Afghans to achieve durable peace and stability during the holy month.”

He said the holy month of fasting was arriving at a time when bomb blasts and other incidents of violence occurred on a daily basis. He hoped the wave of terror would come to an end this holy month.

“The Taliban should stop killing innocent Afghan citizens and shun violence in the larger interest of Afghanistan. It is not possible to keep fighting and talking simultaneously,” he observed.

The unity government, he reiterated, was all poised to provide the Taliban with all facilities like other Afghans but they had to renounce violence and terror.

Abdullah praised the valiant Afghan security forces for defending the country and the nation from internal and externalinfo-icon threats posed by anti-state elements.
