JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Militants on Saturday killed head of National Solidarity Programme (NSP) for Batikot district in eastern Nangarhar province, the town’s administrative chief said.

Haji Ghalib told Pajhwok Afghan News gunmen abducted NSP district chief and tribal elder Afzal Khan on Thursday.

The militants severed the head of Afzal Khan whose dead body was found near the district healthinfo-icon centre.

Ghalib said that police had started investigations into the incident but no one could be arrested so far.

Armed insurgents had been kidnapping tribal elders from the district and killing them mercilessly. However, no one so far claimed credit for the killing of Afzal Khan.
