India condemns Afghanistan Parliament attack by Taliban

NEW DELHI (Pajhwok): Both the ruling and opposition parties in India on Monday expressed concern and condemnation over the attack on the Afghanistaninfo-icon Parliament by Talibaninfo-icon insurgents. 
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said "the attack on the Afghanistan Parliament is a despicable and cowardly act."
"There is no place for such attacks in a democracy," Modi said.
"My prayers are with those injured. We stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of Afghanistan in this hour," he said.
India's opposition Congress party's president, Sonia Gandhi, expressed deep concern over the  attack.
"Congress President,Smt.Sonia Gandhi has expressed deep concern over the suicide terror attack on Afghan Parliament," the party on its official Twitter handle posted.
The Taliban attack on the Afghanistan parliament on Monday ended after all eight militants were killed in a prolonged gun battle.
Media reports quoted the government in Afghanistan saying that at least two civilians were killed and 28 more were injured in the suicide attack after one of the militants detonated a car and blew himself up. 
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the attack, saying their men had launched an attack on parliament as there was an important gathering to introduce the country's defence minister.
