HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): The Iranian Consulate in western Herat province said an Iranian national had been abducted from Herat– Islam-Qala highway by unidentified gunmen on Wednesday.

Mahdi Shahrukhi, the Iranian consulate deputy, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Jawad, the kidnapped man, was abducted on Tuesday afternoon.

“The Iranian citizen is a driver,” he said, adding that in the last one month this was the third time Iranian citizens were being kidnapped.

Abdul Rauf Ahmadi, police spokesman, said he was unaware about the incident.

Few days back also on the same highway another Iranian driver was kidnapped and his fate was still unknown.
