KANDAHAR (Pajhwok): Three Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were killed and as many wounded when militants claimed targeting ANA helicopter in southern Kandahar province, a security official said on Monday.

A security official wishing anonymity told Pajhwok Afghan News that the incident happened in Garmawak area on Sunday afternoon.

He said armed rebels hit the helicopters with a heavy weapon, which caught fire after emergency landing. Two ANA soldiers went missing, he added.

Samim Khpalwak, the governor’s spokesperson, rejected the killing of ANA soldiers or targeting the helicopter but said the helicopter had an emergency landing in the area.

Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, Talibaninfo-icon spokesman, claimed targeting the helicopter with all soldiers onboard dead in the incident.
