KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): As many as 85 members of Wolesi Jirgainfo-icon or lower house of parliament in a letter wanted the names of those lawmakers revealed who remained absent from the house session for long.

Humaira Ayubi, a lawmaker from Farah, submitted official letter to the administrative board of the Wolesi Jirga on Wednesday.

Without going into details, Ayubi said some lawmakers had been absent for long from house proceedings. She added lawmakers only marked presence while voting for ministers or at other important sessions but were regularly absent.

“If their lives are in danger then ours are also. They sit at home and if they feel they are in danger than they can tender resignation as member of the house,” she remarked.

House Speaker Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi said the issue would be taken up for debate and their names would be made public.
