Wardak peace emissary gunned down in Kabul

MIADAN SHAHR (Pajhwok): A member of the High Peace Councilinfo-icon (HPC) from central Maidan Wardak province has been killed in central capital Kabulinfo-icon, an official said on Tuesday.

Maidan Wardak governor’s spokesman Attaullah Khogyani told Pajhwok Afghan News Maulviinfo-icon Saleh Mohammad Hottak was gunned down last night by unidentified assailants in Qalai Haidar Khan area of Paghman district of Kabul.

Hottak was walking home after offering evening prayers at the area mosqueinfo-icon when came under attack. Hottak himself was a prayers leader at a local mosque in Ghulam Haider Khan area.

The slain peace negotiator was a resident of Toor Krak area of Nirkh district and had served as member of the Maidan Wardak chapter HPC, a government body tasked with brokering peace with the Talibaninfo-icon, for six years.

Police have launched an investigation into the murder, for which no group has come forward to claim responsibility.
