1 policeman killed, 6 injured in Jalalabad explosion

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least one person was killed and six others were wounded on Saturday morning when an improvised explosive device (IED) went off  in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, a healthinfo-icon official said.

Rafique, an eye witness, told Pajhwok Afghan News the IED planted close to a police chec post went off with a big bang. Two policemen were killed and six others wounded in the blast, he said.

Dr. Najibullah Kamawal, director of Nangarhar Civil Hospital, said one dead body and six wounded people had been shifted to hospital. However, he did not comment on the condition of the wounded policemen.

A press release from the governor's office said two civilians and two security forces had been wounded in the blast. No group has claimed responsibility so far.
