FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): An Afghan Local Police (ALP) commander was killed along with his bodyguard in a bomb blast in the Bala Baluk district of western Farah province, an official said on Monday.

Police spokesman Iqbal Baher told Pajhwok Afghan News Mohammad Awaz and his bodyguard Sultan Mohammad were killed in the Ab Khurma area of the district late on Sunday.

Mir Hamza, a resident of the area, confirmed ALP commander and his bodyguard were killed in the bomb blast. He said the explosion took place close to the commander’s house.

As usual, the Talibaninfo-icon insurgents claimed responsibility for the attack.
