KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Healthinfo-icon (MoPH) on Monday torched more than 30 tonnes of low-quality drugs and canceled the licences of eight medical stores, an official said.

In addition, the ministry warned 400 more pharmacies of scrapping their permtis in case of selling low-quality and expired drugs.

The expired drugs were torched in the Khak-i-Jabbar district of Kabul in the presence of public health, attorney office and security officials.

Syed Ibrahim Kamel, law enforcement director at MoPH, told Pajhwok Afghan News that presence of expired, low quality and illegal drugs was a major challenge for the ministry.

He said the expired and harmful drugs were being smuggled to Afghanistaninfo-icon and security officials should prevent the practice that posed a public health hazard.
