Kabul bombing unjustifiable: Ulema Council

Aug 09, 2015 - 14:36

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Ulema Council (AUC), condemning suicide the bombing in the Shah Shaheed locality of Kabul, said on Sunday the carnage was inhuman and against the teachings of any religion.

In statement, the AUC said the bombing was carried out by the enemy of Afghanistan with a vicious agenda to spread terror and among common people.

A suicide bomber smashed his explosive-laden vehicle into the building of National Directorate of Security (NDS) office close to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in capital Kabul early Friday, leaving 15 persons dead and 283 wounded, the president's national security advisor said.

The explosion was so powerful that it jolted several parts of capital Kabul. The blast took place at around 1:00 am, an official said.

Media quoted senior official as saying that Vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) was detonated near Shah Shaheed area. The official feared the blast inflicted heavy men and material losses.
