LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Construction work on two buildings for educationinfo-icon department and a school have been completed and formally handed over to officials concerned for formal use in southern Helmand, an official said on Thursday.

Director Education Abdul Matin Jaffar while speaking at an opening ceremony said that the two storey buildings had 12 and 13 rooms and took three years to complete. The education department building costs around $276,000 funded by Denmark, he added.

A school building in Aab Pashak area in Grishak district had been constructed at a cost of 13.5 million Afghanis, which had 12 class rooms and few administration offices.

Governor Mirza Khan Rahimi said: “We need support of the residents to enroll and send their children to the school and also look after the buildings.”

A teacher Mir Wali said: “Teachers and residents will look after the buildings to protect them.”

The district has 38 schools out of which 35 have been opened while three are closed.  At least ten schools have buildings in which 21,000 students including 5,000 girls have been enrolled in Grishak district.
