Policemen among several dead in Badghis clash

QALA-E-NAW (Pajhwok): Twelve policemen, including civilians, and five militants were killed in a gun fight when the latter ambushed a police party in western Badghis province, a member of provincial council said on Sunday.

Mohammad Farid Akhizai told Pajhwok Afghan News that insurgents captured ten public order police personnel after the firefight was over.

The incident, he said took place in Abtauda locality in Jwand district. Seven public order police officials and five civilians were killed. Militants captured ten policemen after the clash was ended.

He confirmed five rebels were also killed in the incident. Pajhwok Afghan News could not get the version of other officials despite repeated attempts.

Militants have not commented on the clash as of yet.
