3 students dead, 1 injured as rocket lands in Paktika school

SHARAN (Pajhwok): Three students were killed and a third wounded during a gunbattle between Talibaninfo-icon militants and security forces in the Sar Rawza district of southeastern Paktika province, an official said on Friday.

District Educationinfo-icon Officer Mohammad Iqbal told Pajhwok Afghan News three students of Hayat Baba High School were killed and a third wounded when the intense gunfight erupted between Taliban and security forces on Thursday.

“Three students of the school were killed and another wounded when a rocket landed inside the school,” he added.

Jan Mohammad, a resident of the locality, said the slain students aged below 12 were studying in grades 2, 4 and 6.

Education Director Mohammadullah confirmed the incident and said “people have told me that Taliban fired the rocket launcher.” The injured student was shifted to a hospital for treatment, he added.

Security forces and Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.
