Af-Pak joint economic commission meeting delayed

Af-Pak joint economic commission meeting delayed

Aug 24, 2015 - 11:37

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): A meeting of the Afghanistaninfo-icon-Pakistaninfo-icon Joint Economic Commission (JEC) has been postponed in response to Kabulinfo-icon’s request, Islamabad announced on Sunday.

Afghan Finance Minister Eklil Hakimi, during a telephone, asked his Pakistani counterpart Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar for rescheduling the meeting, slated for the end of August.

The Finance Ministry said in a statement the ministers discussed various issues related to bilateral economic cooperation. They also conferred on the possibility of holding the next JEC meeting in Islamabad in the last quarter of the year.

A proposed visit of Turkmenistan’s president to Afghanistan has apparently prompted Hakimi to seek rescheduling of the meeting. The Economic Affairs Division and the Embassy of Afghanistan will firm up the dates.
