Pakistani Taliban joining Daesh in Afghanistan: Mosazai

Pakistani Taliban joining Daesh in Afghanistan: Mosazai

Sep 10, 2015 - 09:54

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The Pakistaninfo-icon Talibaninfo-icon hiding in Afghanistaninfo-icon are joining the self-styled Islamic State group in that country, the Afghan ambassador says.

“An example of this is the attempt by some former Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants to infiltrate into Nangarhar province and switch over to Daesh,” he said.

But Janan Mosazai, addressing a seminar in Islamabad on Wednesday, said the Afghan government had been trying to crack down on Daesh activities.

He made a strong pitch for regional cooperation against terrorist groups, particularly the Islamic State. “There is no single country strategy or solution to the menace…”

A common collective response to the common enemy was essential, he stressed, saying Daesh was spreading its propaganda and obscurantist worldview in Pakistan as well.

Terror groups had shown they were faster and better at coordination, communication and cooperation. On the contrary, states, including in this region, were still a lot slower, he remarked.

The diplomat urged regional countries to crack down on rallies, gatherings and fatwainfo-icon centres that provided motivation for the senseless violence.
