Insurgents stone Sar-i-Pul pair on adultery charges

SAR-I-PUL CITY (Pajhwok): The Talibaninfo-icon publicly stoned a man and a woman accused of adultery in the Suzma Kala district of northern Sar-i-Pul province on Saturday, an official said.

Acting Governor Abdul Jabbar Haqbin confirmed the stoning incident, saying the pair was punished in Gata Kala locality. He gave no further details.

But a security official, who wished to go unnamed, revealed the Taliban had detained the man and the woman a week earlier in Khurasan village.

The sourcesaid the woman hailed from Khurasan and the manbelonged to Sang Charak district. Residents of the locality could not be reached for comments.
