TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): One policeman has been killed and four others, including the Khas Uruzgan district police chief, were wounded, in a militant attack, an official said on Thursday.

The wounded police officer, 2nd Lt. Niamatullah, told Pajhwok Afghan News a group of insurgents stormed the district police headquarters late Wednesday night.

He said the attack was expected as security in the area had been deteriorating and the police personnel were ready to deal with any eventuality.

As usual, the Talibaninfo-icon claimed responsibility for the attack. Their spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi said heavy causalities had been inflicted on the police in the overnight attack.
