KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Two civilians were killed and as many wounded during two separate bomb explosions in southern Kandahar province on Sunday, an official said.

The governor’s spokesman, Samim Khpalwak, told Pajhwok Afghan News two policemen and one civilian were wounded on Sunday noon when a suicide bomber exploded his explosives-laden car on the Kandahar-Spin Boldak road.

The attacker wanted to ram his explosives-laden vehicle into a police check-post near Tarank Bridge, but police identified him and opened fire, preventing him from reaching his target at around 12:00pm.

Samim said the injured people had been shifted to hospital and they were said to be in stable condition.

Separately, two civilians were killed and a third wounded in a roadside bomb blast that ripped through a passenger vehicle in Qandi village.
