TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): At least 28 rebels have been killed in joint operations by Afghan and foreign troops in central Uruzgan province, an official claimed on Tuesday.

Militant commander Gul Agha was killed along with five associates during a drone strike in the Kor-i-Manda area of Deh Rawood district, said the provincial police chief, Rahimullah Khan.

In Charchino district, the militants attacked an Afghan National Army (ANA) base in Surab area, Wali Dad, the town’s police head, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

In a retaliatory attack, 23 insurgents were killed and eight others wounded by ANA soldiers, who suffered no casualties, he said.

However, a Talibaninfo-icon spokesman claimed inflicting fatalities on 11 security personnel in several explosions in Deh Rawood district.
