KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): A foreign soldier was killed in an insurgent attack on the Bagram airbase in central Parwan province, the alliance’s Resolute Support (RS) Mission said on Wednesday.

In a statement the training mission said: “We can confirm a Resolute Support service member died as a result of an enemy attack in the vicinity of Bagram Airfield on September 22 (Tuesday).”

The fallen NATOinfo-icon soldier was not identified as part of RS policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities.

The Talibaninfo-icon have claimed responsibility for the killing, saying they had launched a rocket attack on the airfield.

Two days back, a NATO service member was killed in a non-military incident. The latest death increases the number of foreign troops killed so far this year to nine, eight of them American.
