Eid prayers offered nationwide

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The first day of Eid-ul-Adha was celebrated across Afghanistaninfo-icon on Thursday by offering special prayers in all provinces, including Kabul, without any security incident taking place.

The prayers were offered in all Eid Gah mosques across the prvovinces.

President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai offered the prayers in the mosqueinfo-icon at the Presidential Palace, where cabinet members and lawmakers were present.

Imams and religious leaders in their prayers called for peace and stability in the country. Most Afghans started sacrificing animals after offering Eid prayers and greeting their relatives and friends.

The first day of Eidul Adha was celebrated besides Afghanistan in Arab countries, Europe and the United States.

This year, according to officials, more than 24,000 Afghan pilgrims have taken part in Hajjinfo-icon pilgrimage along with 2.5 million other Muslims.
