3 killed as Taliban ambush road security guards

SHARANA (Pajhwok): Two Talibaninfo-icon militants and one security guard of a road construction company were killed during a clash on Wednesday in the Sara Roza district of southeastern Paktika province, an official said.

The incident took place in the afternoon when Taliban insurgents ambushed the road construction company’s security guards in Kotni area on the road between Sharana and Angoor Ada near the border with Pakistaninfo-icon, said the district chief, Mohammad Masoom.

The ensuing clash lasted half an hour, leaving two militants and one security guard dead, the official said.

Lal Gul, who lives in nearby Shatoor village, confirmed the clash and the casualties to Pajhwok Afghan News. He said another two security guards of the construction firm were wounded during the clash.

The private construction company has been constructing the road from Paraw area till Angoor Ada village through Barmal district. The firm has hired private security guards for protection of its equipment and workers.
