CHARIKARinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen shot dead a retired police officer in the Bagram district of central Parwan province, an official said on Saturday.

The incident occurred on Friday evening when the attackers opened fire on Mohamamd Arif in his orchard in Qalandarkhel area, administrative head of the district, Abdul Shakoor Qodoosi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The gunmen managed to flee the scene, but police had launched an investigation into the case, he said, adding no one had so far claimed responsibility for the shooting. Arif, 67 retired from his job four years ago.
