Gunmen kidnap 2 de-miners in Logar

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Two deminers have been kidnapped along with their truck by unidentified gunmen in Mohammad Agha district of central Logar province, an official said on Sunday.

The gunmen attacked local office of Sterling Global demining company on Saturday night and kidnapped two deminers and their Kamaz truck, Mohammad Agha district police chief Capt. Matiullah Abdur Rahimzai told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said there were no casualties in the attack and that efforts were underway to find the kidnapped men in cooperation with local elders.

Ahmad Zubair, a resident of Kandahari village, the demining firm had no security guards when it was attacked.

He said it was a large office without security guards. He did not know the identity of those kidnapped.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the incident.

Demining officers have been previously kidnapped by unidentified gunmen in Logar, but were released with the help of local elders.
