SAR-I-PUL CITY (Pajhwok): A group of five insurgents, known as Zulfiqar, has joined the reconciliation in northern Sar-i-Pul province, an official said on Tuesday.

The group was allegedly involved in terrorist activities in Gosfandi district, where it forcibly collected “Zakatinfo-icon and Usher” from residents.

Ghulam Sakhi Wira, the district chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the group, headed by Syed Mohammad Essa, had surrendered some weapons.

Essa termed insurgent activities against the teachings of Islam and humanity, pledging to join the ranks of security forces in the fight against the rebels.
