Dostum arrives in Jawzjan to review security

Oct 20, 2015 - 18:50

SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): First Vice-President Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum on Tuesday arrived in the capital of northern Jawzjan province to evaluate security situation and the performance of security forces.

Dostum held a meeting with provincial officials who briefed the VP about the developing security scenario in the north.

Dostum once again vowed to eliminate the enemy and establish peace and stability in the country. He said security issues in the north would be resolved but did not shared information about the launch of a fresh offensive in the restive areas.

“Last night, I and the president discussed all issues in detail. He said fresh decisions would be taken once the situation is evaluated.”

Meanwhile, Maulviinfo-icon Lotfullah Azizi, the governor of Jawzjan province, said Talibaninfo-icon attacks in Zar Ab district had been repulsed, but the insurgents sometimes staged attacks in Kham Ab district.

As many as 200 officials, including public representatives, took part in the meeting with Dostum.
