Afghan, Pakistani border security officials meet in Torkham

Afghan, Pakistani border security officials meet in Torkham

Oct 22, 2015 - 16:34

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A meeting between border security forces of Afghanistaninfo-icon and Pakistaninfo-icon has been held at Torkham in eastern Nangarhar province.

An official of the 301st Border Zone in Nangarhar told Pajhwok Afghan News the meeting was held on Wednesday and discussed some border-related issues.

The official, who wished to go unnamed, said such meetings were occasionally held in the border zone to discuss security matters.

On the other hand, Pakistani media quoted local officials as saying the meeting discussed the registration of Afghans who recently arrived in the neighbouring country.

Afghan officials reportedly criticised the registration of residents of areas on both sides of the Durand Lineinfo-icon, a British-era frontier that Kabulinfo-icon refuses to recognise as a border.
