KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani has appointed Maj. Gen. Ahmad Faisal Begzad as new governor for northeastern Badakhshan province.

A highly qualified man, with enough experience in governance, has been appointed in line with the recommendation of the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG).

A resident of Khatayan village of Taloqan, he replaces Shah Wali Adib. Begzad has also served as governor of Takhar and Faryab provinces from 1990 to 1991.

After the formation of the unity government, Ghani ordered all governors to serve in acting capacity. However, new governors have been appointed for most of the provinces.
